Thursday, May 16: Happy Birthday John!

Today was a special day because it was John’s birthday! The day started as usual with breakfast, class, lunch, and a robotic challenge to end the day. In class, we learned all about line-following robots and how to calibrate them. That project was a bit harder than expected for most groups, but we all learned so much!

Today was a special day because it was John’s birthday! The day started as usual with breakfast, class, lunch, and a robotic challenge to end the day. In class, we learned all about line-following robots and how to calibrate them. That project was a bit harder than expected for most groups, but we all learned so much! Once we finished class for the day, we got to watch Professor Wüthrich’s students complete their semester-long project. They had to build a robot to perform a certain task over their course, and we got to see their final demonstration.

After the demonstration, we got dinner and chatted with most of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences students in Professor Wüthrich’s class. We met students from all over Switzerland who are currently studying mechatronics. Many of us made friends with the students, which has been the highlight of the trip! By the time we were done talking with the students, we were all pretty tired and went back to the hostel to celebrate John’s birthday.

Some went to Das Schmale Handtuch to celebrate with John and ended the night back at our hostel. Many of the girls stayed back for a cozy girls' night in with a debrief of the trip so far! Such a fun day!
