Today was our second day of class that started right away at 8 a.m. This morning we met in the robotics lab and learned about product development. This is the robotics lab we take class in and everyone in the group waiting for the lecture to start.
During our lunch break, we explored the old part of Winterthur a bit more and some of us did some shopping since the weather was beautiful. Sadly, the farmers market had closed about half an hour before we got there.
After lunch, we chose our teams for the robot challenge and began brainstorming solutions to best the different obstacles. Everyone seemed most concerned about the obstacle we have to go up and over. Although, the hardest part of the afternoon was coming up with our team names!
For dinner, we had spaetzle which is a regional dish. It’s very delicious and contains egg noodles, cheese, and potatoes.
After dinner, we had a walking tour around Winterthur about some of the history. We learned that the name Winterthur comes from the Latin name for willow. Some of us got to visit a church that was originally built in A.D. 600s or 700s and climbed all the way up the bell tower. The top of it is an open air 4 m^2 platform, but it has wonderful views! Here's one group at the beginning of the walking tour.

Here we are at the top of the church's bell tower.
The views from the church were amazing! Everything was bathed in late afternoon sunlight.
Auf wiedersehen!
