Today was quite an adventure. After an incredibly long couple of travel days, we all woke up with plenty of energy.
Starting as early as 5 a.m., we got up and went on walks around Winterthur and the hiking trails in the nearby hill. At around 8 a.m., we ate breakfast at our hostel before returning to our explorations. At around 11 a.m., we all met up to take the train to Zurich for the day. We definitely did NOT leave anyone behind at the train station and made it to Zurich all together.
In Zurich, we split up into smaller groups to explore the city. We went to museums, churches, and restaurants, and went swimming in Lake Zurich (which was beautiful and a little chilly). At around 5 p.m., we regathered and took a train to the top of the city at the Uetliberg lookout for a view of the city and the Alps.
As we started to lose light, we made our exhausted return via rail to Winterthur. Upon arrival, we hit the town in search of food (open restaurants are hard to find in Switzerland on a Sunday night). We ended our adventure on the hostel balcony playing cards and chatting.
