Monday, May 27: Tokyo University

Today, we made our way to Tokyo University. We began our day with a discussion about the research being conducted there before hopping on a train headed for the university. Today, we made our way to Tokyo University. We began our day with a discussion about the research being conducted there before hopping on a train headed for the university.

Upon arriving, we took time to explore and take in the beautiful campus before saying hello to our peers from Tokyo University. We shared a meal in the cafeteria and mingled with other students. After lunch, we toured the lab, where we got to try a variety of demos created by the university's students!

The demos included a virtual reality table that utilized redirective walking to create the illusion of the table's shape changing, a demo enabling users to use their hands as controllers to interact with objects they see, a virtual reality drum simulation assessing how different in-game avatars influence behavior, a device applying pressure to guide users in a specified direction dictated by the object, a demo simulating various sensations by stimulating tendons (such as tilting or rising and falling), and a demo combining two people's actions into a single avatar in virtual reality.

After showing us the demos, the students at the University gave us a presentation about the various projects they have completed. Finally, we said our goodbyes to the students at Tokyo University and thanked them for sharing their work.

In the evening, our group "rolled" up the day by learning how to make sushi! It's fair to say we're a long way from becoming masters, but everyone has to start somewhere. After the tutorial, we returned to the hotel, preparing for another fun-filled day tomorrow.
