Today was filled with learning. We departed from our hostel in Copenhagen bright and early, and got on the road to the University of Southern Denmark. There, we listened to a lecture about batteries—how they work, how they have advanced, and how they will advance in the future.
Immediately following the lecture, we were treated to a short tour of the University’s research lab and X-ray machines. There, two students talked to us about their research into creating new, more efficient batteries.
After the tour, we headed to a quaint little town called Odense, where we got to see the house of Hans Christian Andersen, author of fairy tales such as "The Ugly Duckling." We then had lunch and departed for our final tour of the day.
Our final stop of the day was Jelling. This is the burial spot of Denmark’s first king, Gorm the Old, who united much of Norway and Sweden under Danish rule. Gorm also brought Christianity to the Danish people. It was here we saw a rune which was this unified country’s “constitution.”
After, we departed for our final destination, Danland, the location of our hostel for the night. That’s all for today!
