When in Rome, do as the Romans do!

Day three in Italy has finally come to an end. We have been really busy with sightseeing, enjoying great Italian cuisine, and catching some shuteye.

Day three in Italy has finally come to an end. We have been really busy with sightseeing, enjoying great Italian cuisine, and catching some shuteye.

On 05/17/11, we enjoyed a great guided tour of St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums including the Sistine Chapel. The highlight of this portion of the trip was the climb to the top of the dome of St. Peter's Basilica where we were able to experience phenomenal vistas of Rome. Upon our descend, we headed over to Nevi Auditorium (music hall in Vatican City). We got an exceptional guided tour of the facility where we were able to see the Solar Panels that Power building. We even got a peak at Pope's reception room were he receives honored guest. We even got to see the Popes private office. After our tour, we went out to dinner at Osteria Romana where we enjoyed two pasta dishes, two veal dishes and leg of lamb.

On 05/18/11, we went on a guided tour of the Coliseum and Roman Forum. After our tour, we went attended a lecture on the Restoration of Historical Monuments that were damaged by earthquake. After the lecture, the group enjoyed a great evening exploring the streets of Rome!
