Arrival

Upon our arrival at Heathrow airport, we were greeted by Joanna, a tour guide from Seminars International. Before leaving the bus, she warned, "We have a nasty habit of charging to use the toilets." Airports, fortunately, had free toilet access.

During the two hour bus tour, we passed by or saw several London landmarks, including Wembley Stadium, Hammersmith Bridge, Harrods, Nightsbridge St., Oxford St., Hyde Park, Green Park, the Royal Academy, St. James Palace, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abby, the House of Parliament, Big Ben, Trafalga Square, the National Gallery, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Bank of England, London Bridge, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, Tate Modern art gallery, MI5, and others. A two hour bus tour following an eight hour flight and six hours of jet lag was conducive to sleep, but we will be visiting many of those sites soon.

Joanna then took us to the Days Inn Hotel at Hyde Park where we will be sleeping for the duration of our stay in London. With about 530 acres of green space, Hyde Park is the largest park in London.

We ate supper at the Victoria Pub. Our meal consisted of three courses: soup, the main dish (chicken), and dessert.
