Seminar description:
Access to reliable clean water is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity today. The College of Science and Engineering is offering a global seminar experience that will give participants an opportunity to expand their knowledge of chemical analysis and environmental impact.
Students who are part of this unique experience will spend spring break in Panama where they will have the opportunity to learn about Panamanian culture and daily life, water management, water-related health implications, and environmental awareness. This global experience will provide an opportunity to learn about field measurements focused on conducting chemical analysis (pH and biological contamination) and keeping field records.
During this program, students will have an opportunity to interact with students in local schools and communities, learn how water resources are utilized, and gain knowledge about ecological balance in the Bocas del Toro region.
The seminar will also include an excursion to Panama City to visit the Panama Canal and learn about global initiatives to protect water resources in the world.
