Energy Production Methods in Scandinavia

Students on this May Session CSE Global Seminar will study existing and emerging energy production methods and energy usage in Iceland, Denmark, and Norway.
Travel dates: Tuesday, May 15-Monday, June 4, 2018

Seminar description:

Award-winning Teaching Professor Paul Imbertson (ECE) has taken several groups of University of Minnesota students to Scandinavia to explore energy production methods, and how culture and beliefs guide our energy policies.

The May Sessuib 2018 seminar will cover existing and emerging energy production methods and energy usage in Iceland, Denmark, and Norway. The program will focus on how energy production and usage patterns are linked to specific details of location; and how the issues of production, usage, and environmental concerns have created the current tensions that are driving new energy planning.

Site visits will include research universities, wind turbine manufacturers, geothermal power plants, wind farms, hydro facilities, and solar component manufacturers.
