Today was the first full day without Adam, and we were somehow able to handle it emotionally. Anyway, we left the scenic Cinque Terre for Pisa. After settling into our hotel and brief exploration, we attended the BioRobotics Institute at Scuola Supierore Sant’Anna.
We learned about humanoid robots aimed at taking the place of real people in dangerous situations.
We also had the opportunity to hear about soft robotics, especially how an octopus tentacle is an ideal model for applying soft robotics.
Next, we learned how exoskeletons can help both disabled people and augment healthy behavior.
Moreover, a project on improving colonoscopies with industrial robots and magnets was exciting to learn about.
Finally, we learned about a revolutionary ultrasound ablation system.
Neighboring the institute was the Piaggio Museum. We moooooved on over to this museum to learn about the history of scooters.
In the evening there was free time to explore and eat in the wonderful city of Pisa. Imagine having pizza in Pisa...wild!
