India—An introduction

Today was our first day in India and we jumped right into the culture by going on a scavenger hunt. We were split into two groups and each group had an intern, a local from Bangalore, to help up out. He was instructed to help as little as possible, so we really had to figure out things on our own.

When approaching people to ask for help figuring out the clues, they were all friendly, even if they didn't know the answer. Our first stop was a mall in downtown Bangalore so we rode the metro to get there. It is very similar to the system in Minneapolis. After that, our next clue was for an iconic hotel. This one took us about an hour to solve and we used an auto rickshaw to get there. They are very defensive drivers and got us to our location in no time. The final two clues led us to an aquarium by a park and to the only cricket stadium in Bangalore.

My watch tracked over 5 miles of walking, but seeing India on foot was the best way to really see what's going on. After all that, we went out to dinner as a group. We went to a restaurant where this program always begins. The meal was very interesting because they served us each dish separately. It was quite the feast and a the perfect way to relax and discuss what we learned.
