Seminar Description

Paul Imbertson, award-winning teaching professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has taken several groups of Minnesota students to Scandinavia to explore energy production methods, and how culture and beliefs guide our energy policies.

The 2014 seminar will study existing and planned energy production methods and energy usage in Iceland, Denmark, and Norway. The program will focus on how energy production and usage patterns are linked to specific details of location; and how the issues of production, usage, and environmental concerns have created the current tensions that are driving new energy planning.

Site visits will include research universities, wind turbine manufacturers, power plants, wind farms, hydro facilities, and solar component manufacturers.
