The Palace of Versailles

Wednesday, June 2

A crowd of anxious tourists wait outside the blocked out Palace of Versailles.

With Professor Sobelman yet again at ISCAS, we were treated with another short visit. This one was at the Palace of Versailles. Getting there only took about an hour and a half via Paris Métro and RER (Réseau Express Régional).

Soon after we arrived and before we entered, every visitor was kicked out of the palace. Although I am unsure of the reason for this, perhaps there was a security breach. As we waited for the palace to reopen, we took a walk through a small section of the gardens of Versailles. When the palace reopened, we were brought on a private guided tour of the king's private apartments after which we were set free to look at any part of the palace we wanted.
