The weather here in Venice has been nice--not too hot and not too cold. We're staying on the island of Lido, which is a long narrow island that has the island of Venice on one side and the ocean on the other.

We're staying on the island of Lido, which is a long narrow island that has the island of Venice on one side and the ocean on the other. To get around, there is a system of water buses with stops all around Venice and the Grand Canal as well as one stop on our island. They're pretty slow so, depending on where you catch one, it can take around 20 minutes to get back to our hotel.
Today is an Italian national holiday so there have been some special celebrations going on today. A number of us watched a fireworks display related to this holiday from the beach last night. It was amazing.
