The Colosseum and the Last Group Dinner

Today was our last day in Rome. Since our tour didn’t start until 1:30 p.m., we all got a chance to sleep in and do our own thing until then. During our tour, we visited the Colosseum.
Today was our last day in Rome. Since our tour didn’t start until 1:30 p.m., we all got a chance to sleep in and do our own thing until then. During our tour, we visited the Colosseum.

We learned that the real name of the Colosseum is the Amphitheatrum Flavium, and that the reason it is referred to as the Colosseum is because the Colossus of Nero used to be in front of it, and eventually people started to call it the Colosseum.

After that, we went to the Roman Forum, which is a plaza surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the center of the city of Rome. Some notable sites were the Temple of Vesta and the Triumphal Arches. While there, we saw the tomb of Julius Caesar. Before going into the forum, we went up to a terrace where we had a great view of the city.

After that, we had a little break and had our last dinner together as a group. We had a delicious meal together, followed by farewell speeches from Travis, Natalie, Matt (who were not flying back to the US with us), and Jerry.
