Day 15: Ascension Day in Winterthur, more work on our robots, and birthdays!

Today is Ascension Day in Winterthur, meaning all of the ZHAW food staff get to enjoy a well earned holiday and we were on our own for breakfast.

Today is Ascension Day in Winterthur, meaning all of the ZHAW food staff get to enjoy a well-earned holiday and we were on our own for breakfast. While it would be amazing to be out enjoying the beautiful Swiss summer day, for us Americans the grind don’t stop and we were back at it trying to get our robots up and running. It’s also Brianna’s birthday today, and upon arrival she was greeted with a gigantic Toblerone courtesy of Michael.

All of our final robots are really starting to take shape. Many creative designs are currently on the printers awaiting completion.

On the software side, many of the line followers are actually beginning to listen to what we want them to do (although some are still a bit stubborn). As the coding gets more and more intricate we can actually overcome some of the obstacles.

Again there was no lunch served in the Mensa today, so we had to settle for these mouthwatering personal pizzas. We really have it rough over here.

After class, we hopped on a quick train to Michael's house for a generous cookout, presented by Michael's family.

Once we finished dinner the group discovered the soccer goals out front and worked off all the sausages and chips.

And of course it wouldn’t be a birthday without cake, so Michaels kids surprised Brianna and the rest of us with a few delicious kuchen.

All in all, not a bad day in Winterthur. Thanks for tuning in!
