Minneapolis International Airport, 4:30 p.m. CDT. As the Mechatronics in Switzerland students trickled into the airport, waiting to depart for Switzerland, a game of “Up and Down the River” began among the student populous.

The rounds were tense as these ten brave engineering and computer science students applied their math skills to different ends and fought each other on the battlefield of statistics.

With a maximum of ten competitors in the card game, those not playing found joy in spectating the twists and turn of the river or in making small talk with their newly acquainted friends. The king of “Up and Down the River” is crowned, and his name is Riley.

Hear from the champ himself as he details his sense of accomplishment.

After shifting from the H6 gate lobby into the plane, the Mechatronics in Switzerland students become airborne at about 8 p.m. Many look over the view of Minneapolis in wonder.

We enter Canadian skies around 9 p.m. The plane dies down as the students settle in for the flight. With an orange juice or soda in hand, the students drift off into Icelandic Netflix courtesy of Icelandair. From “The Life of Walter Smitty” to “Avatar” to “Mad Max,” students pick from a variety of movies to enjoy. The gentleman against the window listens to cello music.

Leaving Canadian skies around 10:30 p.m., this tired blogger goes to sleep. If I don’t see you tomorrow: good morning, good evening, and goodnight!
