Adventuring around the Reykjanesaer Peninsula

For our first full day in Iceland we started the day by visiting Power Plant Earth to get a basic understanding of geothermal energy and how the hot steam coming out of the earth is used to produce electricity and also cooled with sea water to then heat homes in the city.

After visiting this plant we headed out to see the various sights of Iceland. Our first stop was a few minutes from the power plant where we were able to see the beautiful blue ocean crashing against the lava rocks that have been formed from thousands of years of volcanic activity.

After that we were given the opportunity to climb a volcano thanks to Bo Lokkegaard who knew about a volcano not frequented by tourists.

Our next stop was to see geothermal energy in action at some hot springs.

For our final destination of the day we headed off to a secluded black sand beach where we were able to collect sand and enjoy the breathtaking views.

With the extra free time, the group spent their remaining time exploring the city.
