Into the Blue Mountains

Today we all headed to the Blue Mountains for a day of hiking.
Today we all headed to the Blue Mountains for a day of hiking. About two hours or so by train from Sydney, the Blue Mountains are named because all the eucalyptus in the mountain gives off a blue haze.

Also, there is often smoke surrounding the mountains, caused by controlled burnings, which prevent bush fires from getting out of control. With flora much different from our own, the vast mountains were a fantastic way to experience the bush, as it is called.

We were all extremely exhausted by the end of the trip, but equally in awe. The mountains offered a fantastic juxtaposition of Australia compared to Sydney; a high-tech, advanced city only a couple of hours removed from the natural beauty of the Australian bush.
