Italy—Engineering an Empire

A group of freshmen led by CSE faculty and staff will visit Italy during this 10-day Freshmen Global Seminar. Learn first-hand about the skills and mathematics of Greek and Roman engineers and architects as they built colossal structures that exemplify the achievements of their empires. The group will also experience structures of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and discuss the development of design and construction methods over two millennia.

Location and Description:

Learn first-hand about the skills and mathematics of Greek and Roman engineers and architects as they built colossal structures that exemplify the achievements of their empires. The group will also experience structures of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and discuss the development of design and construction methods over two millennia.

The program will visit Sicily, Naples, and Rome. Sites will include Greek ruins, Pompeii, the Coliseum, the Vatican, and more!
