Mountain climbing, lake jumping, and hot dog roasting

During Day 2 at Sletvik, we switched activities: Group 1 climbed the mountain while Group 2 took more lake samples. In the afternoon we had a lab to measure the quality of our water samples, and at night we had a group bonfire and polar bear plunge into the lake (videos included).
Day 2 at Sletvik.

Group 1 climbed the mountain. It rained the entire time and stopped raining as we were getting to the car. Meanwhile, Group 2 took more lake samples.

In the afternoon we had a lab to test for hardness, dissolved oxygen, and alkalinity of the water samples from yesterday and this morning.

So far we are all thoroughly impressed with Norway's natural quality of water. To give you a sense of it, the hardness of the water in the mountain lake was about 10 mg/L as CaCO3. In the U.S., good water is typically measured at 60-80 mg/L.

Tonight we all circled around a bonfire, roasted marshmallows, and listened to Tamara and Rachel H. play the violin.

There was then a group polar bear plunge into the lake right outside the station. About seven of us jumped in the lake and then bee-lined it straight for the sauna.

Tim was gracious enough to film this endeavor. You can find a couple videos here:
