Free day in Sydney

Sunday was our first free day in Sydney. The group spent the day a variety of different ways, from surfing in Manly to souvenir shopping to climbing the Harbour Bridge.
Sunday was our first full free day. The group found a variety of different ways to pass the time.

Many of us decided to take the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly. Once in Manly, there were a variety of different things to do. A few of us rented surf boards and tried to catch a few waves. Surfing was much harder than it looks, but after a few tries some of us started to get the hang of it.

Two students went on a nature hike in Manly and saw some amazing wildlife. They even got a picture of a small penguin!

There were also a variety of shops and restaurants in Manly, so many students went souvenir shopping and enjoyed gelato.

One of the more popular attractions in Sydney is the bridge climb. On the bridge climb you are able to climb to the top of the arch of the Harbour Bridge. Two of the students used their free day to do this.

Pictured below is the bridge they climbed as well as two of the students at the top of the bridge. They climbed 1,332 steps to the top of the bridge. When they reached the top, they were 134 meters in the air.

Other students went to the aquarium and museums in Sydney.

As the Manly group took the ferry back, the sun was just setting. We got an amazing view of Sydney from the harbor, a spectacular way to end a wonderful day.
